When I first came to Vintage Motocross at the Marysville Event put on by Tom Bentley Sept 10 2006. I was walking
through the pits and under this Cycle Gear cannopy was a red hedded guy fawning over a really cool Chenny single. I
complimented his mount and from that point on I grew to like him. George is a humble person. He is a straight shooter
who will let you know how he feels, get it out of the way, then offer his best guess for a solution. No games. He has VMX
Championship titles under his belt but you have to really work it out of him to find it out. SandHill 2008,Bonfire after a
day of racing at Brad Lackey's Nor/Cal Classic. Alex Moroz, Off Road Dirrector for all of AHRMA, George and I are
having a really nice conversation about Vintage racing , where it's been, where it might be going. Sudenly I reallize Alex
dosen't know George is Mr. Cycle Gear so I introduce. See George didn't just say hey Iv'e been  working 18 years for
Cycle Gear a national motorcycle parts and accessory chain and I'm a director. He's just not that kind of Guy  but I know
these are the facts. 2 months before this, at the NorthWest Regional VMX Awards Dinner, I watched as George handed
AHRMA officials a check from Cycle Gear and announced that Cycle Gear would be the 2008 series sponsor.
Recently,                                                                              
   I asked George a few questions about how this might effect the way
the series would be run. George says that there would be no
changes in the running of the events. Cycle Gear was here to help
not to administrate. The look of the races will be different with Cycle
Gear Logos around, but the races will be run as usual. When asked
why the sponsorship happened,George says he's had so much fun
doing VMX with AHRMA that he wanted to "give something back to
the sport". I think I speak for most of us when I say a big ThankYou to
Cycle Gear and George for stepping in this year and being our
sponsor. Last year we didn't have one so this is a really good thing
they are doing.
