The Track
Saturday March 28, The course ran clockwise, So
down Godzilla, the steepest of all the hills on the
Ranch. It was Technical, with lots of tight stuff to
keep you on your toes. Sandhill is a misnomer, not
really sandy, as much as hardpack and clay. So
technical, clay, with a fine sand topping, that has a
tendancy to dry out and blow a dusty curtain for
things to hide behind. This kind of soil, if not carefully
watered lends itself to "THE CRISCO RIDE".That
saaaalickk, whoa, "Have you seen my bike?, it was
here a second ago" feeling.  There was a set of
steep downhill "S" turns, that were the most
challenging, for me anyway, by the end of the day,
square edged "G outs" appeared at the apex of both
downhill turns, as if someone cut a 1ft wide 8in deep
stair into the hill, right where you wanted to be. Can
you say "High speed Trials?" Once through that
section you were rewarded with a nice long straight,
at the end of which was a cool jump-turn to a
downhill sweeper. Here is some Helmet Cam taken

Sunday March 29. Turn around and
go the other way. Counter
clockwise,so  around 2 sharp turns and
up Godzilla. The part I liked best was
the turns and dropaway jumps in front
of the stands, with a cool flat track style
lefthand sweeper. If you caught it just
right you could do a feet up, crossed
up slide, FUN,FUN,FUN. Then around
a sharp left just before a sweeping
uphill left. In that tight turn right in the
sweet spot was a square edged bump
by the end of the day. That sucker
would beat your butt. If you went a little
to the left or right of it you would slow
way down. So it was Banzai...... Now,
Motrin later. At the top of the sweeper
you had that straight, which was fast,
but then you had to pay for it with
uphill, loose dirt, tight "S" turns that
followed. Check out the video
